Fire Emblem - Elena's Staff
This goes along with Lehran's medallion.
The model was made in Fusion360. I got to learn how to create a spiral and have have the ball sit flush in it. The extra bits that sit on the ball and staff where sculpted in Apoxie Sculpt after the first sanding pass.
The biggest challenge for this project was how to make it collapsible. I'd never done it before. Thankfully, I found a video tutorial by Lightning Cosplay that showed how see used inset nuts. I found a kit that came with the nuts and the drill head in the required size. To aid in this, I modeled and printed off a drill jig help me drill straight and allow the two pieces of wood to align correctly.
The wood was oak, dyed to a redish hue. The orb portion was airbrushed with Tamiya paints, with some opalescent powder mixed in, and then clear coated with Testors Wet Look Lacquer.
