Fire Emblem - Lehran's Medallion
Part of the Fire Emblem commission with the staff, this was a chance to try out my brother's new FormLab. An SLA printer, it can print super high detail and seemed like a good fit for this project.
In Illustrator, I vectored out the hard-surface shapes to get an idea of where everything went. This went to Fusion360, where I got to model what was possibly the most detailed thing I've ever done in that program.
This got converted and then sent off to my brother for print.
An SLA printer used liquid resin and a laser to create each layer, and then must go through a curing process afterwards.
The final print I received required little work, other than the removal of the supports and sanding what was left.
I molded the original with Mold Mask 14NV and then cast it with Smoothon 325 and a blue Quarry Tone. The final was weathered with a wash of Tamiya black.
I made a video about my experience working with this print: https://youtu.be/NmuX_wrnYMQ
