Magical Girl Utena Musical - Epaulets
A client reached out to me because they'd heard that I'd done Utena epaulets before, but were seeking those from the new musical.
The model was made in Zbrush and printed in ABS on my Polyprinter 229. After attaching with ABS slurry, I gave them an acetone vapor bath. This took away most of the print lines and made sanding easier. This was followed by a few layers of Transtar filler and more sanding up to 1000 grit.
They are airbrushed with Tamiya paints in gloss red and gloss gold and clear coated with Testors Lacquer Wet-Look.
The tassels are braided cord and is wrapped around more cord and then adhered into holes drilled into the bottom. A rare earth magnet is attached to the underside to keep from having to permanently attaching the pieces. It's all covered with felt for a cleaner look.
